The Binding Cloth

Baby it’s just too tight.

Those jeans you’re trying to squeeze your ass into.

That shirt you can barely button

Honey, you can’t even breathe.

Why do you continually insist on wearing outdated versions of yourself.

Stuff from way back when

The things you thought you looked so damn good in.

That front you put on

That denim amour that kept you safe for a time.

That shit is old.

You’re a grown ass woman now.

Of course you’re ass doesn’t fit in that.

That bullshit facade that you hid behind

Those are for young ladies who don’t quite know themselves.

You’ve been places

You’ve seen things

You are such a bad ass your amour is skin deep

So no clothes required.

Walk out into the world as you came in

Free of the binding of others

With open heart and open mind.

Small furry tractors make their rows in the blue blanketThen come to a rest in a warm spot

Engines still running

Below the surface there’s life.

Wanting to reach out toward the light.

But feeling the coziness of the earth.

Life moves and stretches underneath

Then comes to a rest

Maybe for just a few more minutes

Bare bulb in the basement

Swinging string

The slow controlled exhale of breath

My clenched fist paces the floor

Eyes narrowed

Flashes of images pass by my personal tv screen

Rage moves through me so fast I don’t remember hitting that bag

Barely under control

Scary to witness

This anger is only reserved for the absolute screw ups

Those who  weave in the art of carelessness

Who paint in stupidity

Who chip away at trust

Who mold forgetfulness

Who can barely see beyond the mess that they are creating

This volcanic heat is just that.

But only for time. Just until the rocks have time to settle.

Then it’s unleashed

The temperature is unbareable

Today the rage is palpable

Goosebumps on my skin

I’m shaking

There is only one culpable party

It has to be me.
